Manatee County's 27 miles of white sand beaches edge the gulf sides of Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key, barrier islands that attract more than 2 million visitors a year. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, the population was 399,710. The county is named for the Florida manatee, Florida's official marine mammal.
Bradenton sits south of the Manatee River on Tampa Bay and serves as the county's most active city. It features a thriving arts scene at Village of the Arts, numerous antique shops, and cultural attractions including The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature boasting a manatee aquarium, the Riverwalk waterfront district, and enjoy shopping at Downtown Bradenton's Saturday Morning Market. Just five miles west, visitors can explore De Soto National Memorial. As of the 2020 census, the city's population is 55,698.
Bradenton, FL enjoys pleasant weather year-round thanks to its Gulf Coast location. Summers bring temperatures in the upper 80s and 90s with occasional hotter days. Winters stay mild, rarely dropping below 40°F. The area receives about 50 inches of rain annually, spread fairly evenly throughout the year.
